GREENSBORO, N.C., July 3, 2026 — The North Carolina Council on Economic Education, or NCCEE, has released the schedule for its EPF (Economics and Personal Finance) Summer Institutes, a series of week-long professional learning programs held at multiple university campuses for educators who teach Economics and Personal Finance in North Carolina schools.

The institutes are scheduled across three university campuses during July and August. The first session will take place at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro from July 20 to July 24. The second will be hosted at East Carolina University from July 27 to July 31. The final session will be held at North Carolina Central University from August 3 to August 7. Each program runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and follows a uniform instructional structure.

Registration is open through the organization’s events page for educators who are currently teaching or preparing to teach the Economics and Personal Finance course within the state curriculum.

Training Program Supports Classroom Instruction Readiness

The EPF Summer Institutes prepare educators to deliver the required Economics and Personal Finance course in North Carolina high schools. Each session provides 40 hours of in-person instruction covering economic principles, personal finance concepts, and classroom delivery methods aligned with state standards.

The program is part of a broader professional learning initiative administered by the North Carolina Council on Economic Education. Since its introduction in 2020, the institute format has been used to support teacher preparation across the state for the EPF course requirement.

Alongside the summer institutes, the organization provides workshops, webinars, and instructional resources throughout the year to support classroom teaching. These offerings are designed to supplement teacher preparation and provide ongoing access to curriculum materials aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.

Student Learning Programs Extend Statewide Reach

Beyond teacher development, the North Carolina Council on Economic Education runs several student-focused programs across the state. These include academic competitions such as the Stock Market Game, the Economics Challenge, the Personal Finance Challenge, and InvestWrite.

The Stock Market Game allows students to manage a simulated investment portfolio and learn financial decision-making through market-based scenarios. InvestWrite complements this by requiring students to write essays reflecting on investment strategies and financial planning concepts.

The Personal Finance Challenge and Economics Challenge offer structured competitions for middle school and high school students, testing knowledge of financial literacy and economic theory. These programs culminate in regional and state-level recognition events.

Educational Programs Reach Thousands Across North Carolina

The North Carolina Council on Economic Education reports engagement with more than a thousand educators and over one hundred thousand students through its combined programs. Teacher training sessions, classroom resources, and student competitions form the foundation of its statewide educational activities.

The organization also collaborates with universities, educators, and industry contributors to deliver programs and classroom support. Additional initiatives include guest speaker programs, family financial education events, and targeted outreach efforts designed to expand financial literacy education across school communities.

The EPF Summer Institutes remain a central component of this annual training cycle, offering structured preparation for educators ahead of the academic year.
